Further programme participants arrived in Germany - for the first time from Costa Rica.

Frankfurt, July 2020: Since 2012 TalentOrange has been offering international healthcare professionals a language and further education programme. In 2019, nursing graduates from university in Costa Rica could apply for the first time. Due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic, the 15 selected candidates had started their German intensive course virtually from their home country. Most of them, thanks to successful entry, are now continuing their studies in Frankfurt am Main at the company's own TalentOrange language school. At the beginning of 2021 the work at a renowned hospital in this country will follow.

"After we were able to offer our programme to third countries for the first time in 2015 with Vietnam, other countries such as Brazil, THailand, Colombia and Namibia were added in the following years," explains Leydi Sanchez, TalentOrange project manager. "Positie feedback and experiences of our first participants, who quickly established themselves very well in the ward teams of our cooperating German hospitals, made it possible to expand our offer to other Latin American countries. We were overwhelmed by the high number of very good applications from Costa Rica at the end of last year".

The personal interviews with the applicants had taken place on site in Costa Rica in February 2020 before the worldwide entry and exit restrictions were imposed. The limited places for the free programme were quickly filled and the German course schedule was fixed. Thanks to the virtual support provided by the TalentOrange teachers for German as foreign language, the motivated participants could already be linguistically prepared for their start in Germany despite all the hurdles. In the meantime, Sanchez initiated all necessary measures, such as flight bookings, visa applications, flat preparation, etc.

"Our first 15 Ticos - as the people of Costa Rica affectionately call themselves - are all qualified healthcare professionals with one to several years of work experience in private and public hospitals in their home country," Sanchez continues. "The move abroad is based on the desire to gain valuable work experience, to develop professionally and at the same time to learn a new language and a new culture beyond the borders of one's own nose".
